The Occult

May 1st, 2008 by donnashuman

By Robert Baird “Christianity posits the realization of human freedom not here on earth but only in the Kingdom of Heaven.” (1) Fukayama tells us, and it seems to me he is interpreting what the dogma says; even though it fits his own slave and master concept taken by his evil predecessors. Right as he may be about Christianity, he is not right about the teaching of Jesus. Well, what good is there in such a belief system? It encourages no growth or potential for freedom while you are alive. It gives no insight to actual knowing of what exists hereafter, except through faith in someone telling you what is right. How can anyone accept such utter hogwash? Are we to be enslaved to such a cosmogony while alive? God grows too, and he would be dead if he didn’t. All things around us in nature say change is a good thing. Why would a ’social engineer’ like Fukayama tell us that Christianity is the ‘absolute religion’? Is this more expert inducement to be a slave? Methinks there is something rotten afoot, and not just in Denmark. His knowledge of early religions is not displayed in his book. I hope to show all religions have used knowledge that when others employ it they call it occult or some other derogatory name. I will have to show certain people and families in corporate or business life are also involved in the religions to the point of controlling them. His judgement seems uneducated and unwise to me. His good versus evil Nietzschean dialogue is not aware of the truth plainly available in the words of the Britannica in reference to Zoroaster. They say this good versus evil thing of Christianity with a battle being won by good is there 500 years earlier in Zoroastrianism. In truth it was there in Egypt’s Abraxas, and in the Keltic Creed and many other places. There is no merit in such assertions and the issuance of them from the hegemony makes me Blanche and sputter, at times. How can you say man is free only in heaven or the hereafter and hope to build positive models of behaviour? This is especially true when you can buy ’special dispensations’ or simply confess in order to gain forgiveness. This is the kind of religion the Mafia would love! The cover of Cahill’s book The Gifts of the Jews shows all the councils of the Christians are behind another ‘Bible Narrative’. Please question such authoritarian assurances and employ your own soulful sensibilities. When you are troubled do not desist, but rather persevere and learn to see the Peace they seek to destroy or hide from you. Shalom! Vivekananda, Swami Chinmayananda or lesser gurus are not the only adepts who teach self-mastery and how the mind or brain experiences the world around us. Rishis or Mahatmas are not regarded as occultists and yet the techniques they use have been shared for thousands of years by people throughout the world. Part of the whole issue of human cultural development is the Flat Earth fiction that continues to make people think that one point of view is better than some other point of view. It is as if the people of Europe think that their own leaders did not send their best students to get the best education or import the teachers who already had learned Tantra, and the Therapeutaes arts derived from Druidism and shamanism or the Magian arts. At some level you can find adepts in the most orthodox religions. The Sufis of Islam or the Carmelites and Santerians of Catholicism come to mind but there are many mystical or occult sects in Buddhism. “The universe is a self-organizing system engaged in the discovery and realization of its possibilities through a continuing process of transcendence towards ever higher levels of order and self-definition. Modern science has confirmed the ancient Hindu belief that all matter exists as a continuing dance of flowing energies. Yet matter is somehow able to maintain the integrity of its boundaries and internal structures in the midst of apparent disorder. Similarly the cells of a living organism, which are in a constant state of energy flux, maintain their individual integrity while functioning coherently as parts of larger wholes. This ability implies some form of self-knowledge in both inert matter and living organisms at each level of organization. Intelligence and consciousness may take many forms and are in some way pervasive even in matter. What we know of life may not be an accident of creation but rather integral to it, an attractor that shapes the creative unfolding of the cosmos. To the extent that these premises are true, they suggest we have scarcely begun to imagine, much less experience, the possibilities of our own capacity for intelligent self-aware living. Nor have we tested our potentials for self-directed cooperation as a foundation of modern social organization. Evolution, although it involves competitive struggles, violence and death, also involves love, nurturance, rebirth and regeneration-and is a fundamentally cooperative and intelligent enterprise. There is substantial evidence that it is entirely natural for healthy humans to live fully and mindfully in service to the unfolding capacities of self, community, and the planet. Yet in our forgetfulness, we have come to doubt this aspect of our own being. Nurturing the creative development of our capacities for mindful living should be a primary function of the institutions of civilized societies. It is time that we awaken from our forgetfulness and assume conscious responsibility for reshaping our institutions to this end. Written by David C. Korten in the prologue of “The Post-Corporate World” Life after capitalism http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1576750515/102-1126258-0124163 (2) There are many people who follow greatness or need to be lead and we must investigate any who tell us about great things they have experienced. This can be very difficult because what works for one person will not work for another person for reasons of their differentness as well as the constant availability of knowledge and direct cognition or what I call tap-ins. I provide a comment from one of Gurdjieffs students who saw others finding illumination in a way he personally found silly. This is an excerpt from William Welch M. D.s remembrances of this great man who saw most humans could not think or even feel their way to actual wisdom. Gurdjieffs structured dance allowed certain parts of the mind to integrate and then connect without any obstruction from the programming and fears of their lives. This is my personal opinion that you might not agree with too. This excerpt is in relation to the ritual of bathing and saunas that Gurdjieff did while in New York shortly before he passed away. I was astounded to read some years later that among the bemused adepts who participated in this droll ritual, one believed himself to have been initiated into some special level of illumination in the course of his gradual, and ultimately total, immersion. I am afraid my only illumination derived from the shuddering chill to which I never became wholly acclimated, as my fundament and its anterior appendages were finally plunged into the icy water. (3) The idea that a fully diluted homeopathic tincture might heal through some imprint left by Cyanide found in peach pits or laetrile is just one of the conundrums that science still struggles to face. But the fact is cyanide kills cells and results have been achieved by some people who might have attuned themselves with that small amount of Cyanide that Japanese researchers found in peach pits after the US researchers said there was no possible agent that could kill cancer cells in peach pits. The implications of this extend to genetic rituals that modern science cannot see the effects of, and other energy lattice memory or Intelligence. One of my correspondents is a genetic researcher at a university in the Midwestern United States and we both have found artifacts that indicate the use of harmonic attunement with matter in rocks and we are open to this same method being used in affecting the DNA of animal life including humans. The Best Hosta Books

April 28th, 2008 by donnashuman

By Jerry Van Der Kolk A coffee table book is a pretty book that sits on your coffee table. It is good to thumb through when you have a few minutes. It gives your guests something to look at while they are waiting for you to get off the phone or finish dinner or whatever. A good hosta coffee table book does not have to have much information in it. It does not have to be written by a hosta expert or even be up to date. It just has to be visually attractive. You can find very nice hosta coffee table books at discount or used book stores. Wander through the section on gardening books and flip through books on hostas or on shade gardening until you find one or two that appeal to you. It is a very cost effective way to find this kind of book. If, on the other hand, you want to grow hostas, you need a different kind of book altogether. You need a gardening book. You want a book that tells you how to choose hostas, how to plant and care for them, how to categorize them by size and how to propagate hostas. Because there are new methods of hosta propagation and many, many new varieties of hostas, your hosta gardening book needs to be up to date, and it needs to be written by a hosta expert. Your hosta gardening books will probably also work very well on the coffee table. Can you even imagine a hosta book without color pictures of the beautiful plants? It needs to have a section of photos to help you identify hostas you already own, and to plan for the ones you want to add to your collection. Whether you are looking for a hosta coffee table book or a hosta gardening book or both, there are many good books available. Here are a few: Genus Hosta by W. George Schmid. (ISBN 0881922013). This book includes information on 3500 varieties of hostas. Hostas by Rosemary Barrett (ISBN 1552978869). Barrett has been growing hostas for years, and shares her expertise. The Color Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diane Grenfell and Mike Shadrack (ISBN 0881926183). A new, beautifully illustrated book by two British hosta experts. The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zillis (ISBN 0967944007). Okay, this one may not make a good coffee table book. It is, however, a complete reference for anybody who loves hostas. You can never have too many good Hosta Books! Visit your local bookstore and pick up something for yourself to enjoy today. Slather On That Tanning Bed Lotion

April 26th, 2008 by donnashuman

By Tim Gorman Tanning bed lotions abound. How do you choose from all the tanning bed lotions available? There are tanning bed lotions that are in cream form. There are tanning bed lotions that are gels or oils. You can find tanning bed lotions that function as accelerators. Tanning bed lotions are named to sound like wonderful desserts or sexy adventures. Do these tanning bed lotions work better than the ones that you can buy at WalMart? I have tried a variety of tanning bed lotions and can not see much difference between the very expensive ones and the tanning bed lotions that are less costly. First I bought one of the pricey tanning bed lotions from my tanning salon. It worked just fine and lasted about 2 months. Most of the tanning bed lotions at the salon are at least $20 a bottle. Then I used the little containers offered for $2 a shot. I tried five different shots and they all seemed to work about the same. Using these tanning bed lotions did not seem to make my skin softer. Using these tanning bed lotions did not make my tan last longer and slathering myself with these expensive tanning bed lotions did not seem to accelerate my tan. Then I went to WalMart and bought one of the tanning bed lotions they carry. The tanning bed lotions they had available were under $10.00. I found they worked as well and lasted as long. Others may have better luck with the higher priced tanning bed lotions but I was very satisfied with the less expensive brands. Weight Loss: How To Lose Weight By Counting Calorie And Fat

April 24th, 2008 by donnashuman

By Steve Gee Calories don’t make you fat. Fat doesn’t make you fat either. You only get fatter if you consume more calories than you burn off. You can eat as much as you like as long as you burn it all off with exercise. Reducing your weigh is about getting to know your body and balancing your calories. Read on to learn how to lose weight by counting calorie and fat. Don’t rely on diets to tell you how to lose weight Many diets that you can pay good money for will put you on a fixed daily calorie intake and they try to make an estimate of how many calories you should consume based on things like your sex and height hoping that the suggested calorie intake will be right for you. The problem with this approach is that everyone is different which means that you might lose weight eating 1500 calories per day and someone else might cheerfully shed pounds by eating 3000 calories a day. How can these diets hope to get this right for you? In my opinion they can’t and they rely on the laws of averages to make their diet work for enough people to call it a success. This is why you should never rely on popular diets to lose weight. There is more on this subject here Lose Weight, Plan To Stay Lean and Healthy So how do you work out how many calories you should be eating? You know that you will gain weight if you consume more calories than you burn so just take a look at what’s happening to your body right now. Are you getting fatter or is your weight stable? If your weight isn’t changing much week to week then you know that you’re balancing your calorie intake with your natural metabolism and exercise level. If you’re weight is increasing then you know that you are consuming too many calories and you aren’t in balance yet. Counting calorie and fat to determine how much you need to eat Calculate your daily calorie intake now before you attempt any dieting. Make a careful note of everything that you eat and drink every day for a week or two and use one of the widely available calorie charts to work out your average daily calorie intake. You should keep separate totals for the different food groups; carbohydrates, proteins and fats because just changing the proportions of these can help to make a big difference. Knowing how many calories you’re consuming every day should give you some idea of what you need to do to lose weight. If your weight is increasing then you know that you must reduce your calorie intake or increase your exercise level until your body reaches balance and your weight is stable. If your weight is stable then you know exactly how many calories you normally burn because it’s now equal to the calories that you calculated that you consume. You should now realise that what you need to do to lose weight is either consume fewer calories than you usually do or take more exercise or both. You will make these adjustments to your personal nutrition, which is going to be far more accurate and effective than any estimate you got from a diet plan. How to adjust your calorie balance to reduce your weight Now the rule of thumb is that 1 pound of fat is 3500 calories which means that you need to burn 3500 more calories than you consume to lose 1 pound of fat. For healthy safe weight loss you should plan to lose no more than 2 pounds each week which will encourage your body to shed fat rather than muscle and it will give you a good chance of keeping the fat off permanently. I suggest that you aim to lose 1 pound per week, which is 3500 calories, or 500 calories per day. Burning off as much as you can with exercise and reducing the calories in your meals to take off the remainder is the best way to do it. You should also try to reduce the amount of fat and carbohydrate in your meals and replace it with lean protein, which will help your body to burn fat without increasing your appetite. Simplify calorie counting with menus So that’s given you an idea of how to lose weight by counting calories and fat but counting calories accurately every day is a chore and you probably don’t have the time to do it. An alternative that has worked very well for me is to create daily menus. Take a sheet of paper and plan a day of meals. For each meal calculate the calorie value broken down into fat, carbohydrate and protein and make sure that the total for the day meets your daily calorie goal. Do this for several days meals and pick the one you fancy every day to follow. Making menus like this and only counting the calories for each one once makes losing weight by counting calories a lot easier than doing it every day. A Look at the Three Macronutrients in Your Lawn Fertilizer

April 22nd, 2008 by donnashuman

By Jack Greenwood Your lawn requires a large variety of nutrients to grow healthily. Some of them are readily available in the atmosphere or soil while others are available from fertilizers and water. Among all the nutrients required, there are three that your lawn need most and they are nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. These three nutrients are also known as macronutrients. Nitrogen is most important among the three macronutrients and it is the nutrient that needs to be added in the largest amount. Nitrogen keeps your lawn grasses green and growing well. Lack of nitrogen will cause your lawn grasses to turn pale and wither. Weeds will also start to get an upper hand as your lawn weakened. However, do not apply nitrogen blindly as excessive nitrogen can burn your lawn. It also causes lush growth that attracts insects and diseases. In addition, water runoff filled with nitrogen will flow into the ground, streams or lakes and cause environmental pollution. Nitrogen is usually present in either quick-release form or slow-release form. The quick-release form is relatively inexpensive and soluble in water. The roots will suck up the nitrogen immediately upon application and you can see result in a very short time. However, the quick release form has a higher tendency to burn your lawn and leech through the soil easily. The result is usually short-lived. Other the other hand, the slow-release form of nitrogen cannot be absorbed right away by your lawn grasses. It needs to go through a conversion process performed by the microorganisms in your soil first. There is usually a coating of materials that physically slow down the release. This slow-release form is unlikely to burn your lawn and does not leech through soil easily. Its effect also tends to last longer. Most fertilizers are already formulated to contain these two forms of nitrogen, which will give the type of results that most lawn owners want. After nitrogen, the next two macronutrients required are phosphorous and potassium. Phosphorous is vital to the development of healthy roots. It is also very important when establishing a new lawn. However, phosphorous does not move into the soil with water as easily as nitrogen does. Thus, the best time to apply phosphorous is before you do any planting. For existing lawn, you have to work it into the soil to the root level. Otherwise, most of the phosphorous will stay near the soil surface without reaching the roots. Potassium is required if you want to increase your grass hardiness and resistance to disease. It can penetrate the soil easier than phosphorous but not as easily as nitrogen. Potassium is usually available in adequate amount in most type of soils so there is no need to apply potassium in large amount. However, if you have very sandy soil, an application of potassium can greatly benefit your lawn. It is imperative that you have a good idea what nutrients are already present in your soil before you start fertilizing. The only way to be sure is to have your soil tested by a reliable soil-test lab. If you repeatedly add nutrients that are already present in your soil, you can cause excess growth that harm your lawn or pollute the environment. Thus, having a clear idea about what nutrients are present in your soil will allow you to make better decision on the best way to fertilize your lawn. Doing What You Love

April 19th, 2008 by donnashuman

By Cynthia Morse What do you want to be when you grow up? Im sure you were asked this question at least once when you were a youngster. When asked the question, did you have an answer at the ready, or did you need a few minutes to think about it? We all had dreams of becoming something great, like a fireman, a teacher, or a rock star, just to name a few. Well, how did you do? Maybe you never aspired to be what you set out to be or said that you would become. But then again, things change. The older we get, our tastes change, our view of the world changes, even our goals change. One of the most important lessons Ive learned during my career path is to do something you love to do. Why is this important? I feel that if you enjoy what you make a living at, you end up being happy in more ways than one. Life itself becomes much more interesting and fun. You find yourself speaking passionately to others about your work. The experiences you have along the way become much more rewarding, and enrich your life in many ways. You meet fascinating people. I know people who have turned favorite hobbies into small businesses, and have succeeded. Sure, they may have had to sacrifice a steady paycheck for their happiness, but not one of them either turned back or gave up. Their passion carried them through to success. While no job or business is perfect, the important thing is to enjoy it, even learn from it. If you are unhappy in your current situation, why not take steps now to change it? Somewhere out there is a job or business that is perfect for you. If you are already there, I applaud you. If not, realize that it may take some time to figure out what you really want to do, and even more time to actually get there. Thats all right! I can tell you from experience that finding and doing what you love is absolutely worth it, every step of the way. All of the research, training, and hands-on experience has made me a stronger, happier person. Feeling in charge of my own destinywell, there just is no greater feeling. Do what you love, and love what you do, whatever that may be. Youll be happier for it, trust me. I promise you will never look back. 2004 Cynthia Morse, Virtually At Your Service. Marinades - Makin’ n Breakin’ Great Barbecue

April 14th, 2008 by donnashuman

By Chris McCarthy After selecting the best ingredients you can get your hands on, marinating your meat, seafood or poultry is the next important step anyone could take to guarantee a sumptuous barbecue dish. Marinades are seasoned liquids made from a variety of ingredients used to add flavor and tenderize meat, seafood or poultry by soaking them into it prior cooking. It’s typically made of herbs, spices, sweeteners, which all contribute to the flavor, acids that help break down the meat, and oils to keep the meat from drying out while grilling. Using Marinades the Right Way Using marinades properly is the key for great-tasting barbecues. Having said that, here are a few marinating tips to remember. Acids and other tenderizers, though important in the marinating process may cause the meat to become overly soft. As such, don’t leave your meat soaked for too long in marinades especially if it uses a lot of acids. A good timeframe is anywhere between 30 minutes to overnight, depending on the desired effect. Chicken, compared to pork or beef does not require lengthy soaking as it easily absorbs flavors. Refrigerate marinated meats, seafood or poultry and leftover marinades until you’re ready to barbecue as a marinade, no matter how great it may be, has a short shelf life. If the meat, seafood or poultry is not entirely soaked, be sure to turn them several times to ensure that all sides are properly coated or covered with the marinade. Do not use aluminum pans for marinating or for storing leftover marinades. The acids on the marinade may react with the aluminum. Good examples of non-reactive containers include glass, ceramics, plastic ware and even re-sealable plastic bags. Lastly, and most importantly - NEVER REUSE YOUR MARINADE. Whatever it is that you marinated, there could be bacteria left on the marinade that can cause severe sickness. In addition, reusing marinades may also cause undesirable tastes and flavors. If you wish to use your marinade for basting while grilling, set aside a portion of the marinade before putting in the raw meat, seafood or poultry on the barbecue grill. But after that, throw away any left-over marinade. BBQ Tips from InsaneChicken for an Enjoyable Feast A genuine American favorite, the roots of barbecuing can be traced to the southern part of the country. Throughout the years, Americans have continued to take pleasure in barbecuing while enjoying the outdoors. But in the midst of it all certain barbecuing tips can help make it a more memorable and delectable experience for everyone. Aside from their mouth-watering array of bbq sauce products, InsanceChicken offers food safety barbecuing tips from the grill to the table. * Before cooking, be sure that meat to be barbecued is completely defrosted to facilitate even cooking. Be sure to cook food thoroughly to avoid bacterial contamination. As much as possible use a meat thermometer to ensure that food is cooked at the appropriate temperature. * Take off any visible fat in order to avoid burning and also prevent flare-ups due to oils. Avoid serving cooked food in the same container where the raw meats were placed in order to avoid contamination. * Planning an outdoor bbq party? Prevent bugs from landing on your bbq sauce and biting guests by lighting up some citrus candles. You can even buy some bamboo outdoor torches and light them using citronella oil to keep ‘unwanted bugs’ at bay. Lastly, do not forget that a barbecue party is supposed to be casual and fun! How to Use Scrapbooking Eyelets - The Most Popular of Scrapbooking Embellishments

April 11th, 2008 by donnashuman

By Lisa Robbins Scrapbooking Eyelets Eyelets are the new craze in scrapbooking. See what the fuss is all about. About Eyelets Eyelets are embellishments used for scrapbooking and other craft projects such as card making. Eyelets are generally made of aluminum or brass and come in two sizes and three types. The most common size for eyelets is 1/8″, although they also come in 3/16″. 3/16″ eyelets are larger than 1/8″ eyelets and generally cost more. Types of eyelets include plain, top coat, and anodized. Plain eyelets are not painted so they are the color of the metal they are made out of. This type of eyelets is not very common. Eyelets also come with a top coat color. These eyelets are painted. The last type of eyelet is anodized. Anodized eyelets have a more metallic color than eyelets with a top coat. Eyelets have a hole through the center that is used to attach them to your paper. Brads are often sold with eyelets. Brads differ because they do not have this characteristic hole. Instead, brads have two metal flaps on the back that can be bent to attach them to paper. Where to Use Eyelets Eyelets come in many shapes and colors. They can be used to attach items such as ribbons, paper, pictures, and tags to scrapbooking pages. Eyelets are a simple way to add to the color and theme of your scrapbooking pages. Here are 15 ideas for using your eyelets. Embellishments on a paper piecing picture such as buttons on a snowman or dots on a lady bug Attach vellum paper To hange tags or frames from Create movable parts on your paper piecing Create a page theme such as shells for a beach page or fish for a fishing trip page Corners of picture mats In the hole of a tag As bullets for a list Journaling accents Eyes of animals such as owls The center of flowers Create your own bugs, butterflies,or bees from eyelet shapes As the dot on an i or the center of a letter To make a string of Christmas lights or as the ornaments on a christmas tree The M&Ms in M&M cookies String ribbon or craft fibbers through a line of eyelets The list could go on and on. You can use eyelets to add dimension that will spice up any page. How to Use Eyelets It is time to roll up those sleeves and break out your handy tools. You will need a hammer, hole setter, and a resilient work surface such as a rubber craft mat to get started using eyelets. Place your scrapbooking page face up on your work surface. Put the hole setter on your page where you want to insert the eyelet. Lightly tap the end of the hole setter a few times until a hole is created. Place your eyelet upside down on your work surface and put your scrapbooking page over the eyelet so that the back of the eyelet sticks throught the hole you just created. Place the setter with the flat end over the back of the eyelet and lightly tap the end of the setter with your hammer until the back of the eyelet begins to bend outward. Hammer the back of the eyelet directly until the eyelet flattens down into place. Turn your scrapbooking page over and be proud of your work. Where to Buy Eyelets You can purchase eyelets from me!
